I could go on, but having got through the main DOW1 campaign barely a week ago with only 1 or 2 saves (beyond the automatic Autosaves), i assume my skillset hasnt changed much and I have failed Order Mission 3 about 5-6 times already. Once you do, I agree its ridiculously easy using the Eldar for example. For proof that this approach is incorrect, one has to only look at Relic's later work in 'Company of Heroes' where there is a tutorial for each faction/buildings/units prior to the game so you do not have to die/fail the mission 10 times to figure it out. Secondly, the game also throws you into situations (timed situations w/ a countdown clock i might add) where a gamer is supposed to know how to appropriately use these new races with no prior experience. To your point, Space Marines are the tip of the spear and i feel im playing with the reserves. Gameplay is identical to the first and this is just my opinion, but after the great xperience in DOW1 with the Space Marines, I am just not enjoying jumping aorund / playing as all the other races as much. Winter Assault was the first expansion (and uses the base game files) but besides giving you the opportunity to play as the other races, does not do anything different.

There's of course the Baneblade too, but you need a relic to build that one.Ĭheers, much appreciate the thoughtful reply and tips Maybe my choice of words was wrong - not a step down from the first game, but certainly not a step forward - more a shuffle sideways. Their strength lies in numbers, and in their mechanized units - the Leman Russ in particular. The Eldar are, in theory, the best race for one who knows how to play them because of their highly specialized units. The Imperial Guard are normal humans, not genetically modified super-soldiers like the Space Marines. Originally posted by Ursus:It's not a step down. Can get the Baneblade? Support it with tanks and guardsmen and the game is won. The duty of the Guardsman is to die for the Emperor, don't be afraid to let him.

Light infantry? Grenade launchers will wreck them. Get their wargear depending on what you're going up against. Increasing their morale and health is very important. Attach a Priest or a Commisar to increase their damage. There's of course the Baneblade too, but you need a relic to build that one.
